We formed in 2010 soon after the first-generation iPhone (2007/08). Prior to this, 3G enabled devices were steadily becoming the norm opening the window for on-the-go web browsing, video downloads and an early version of face-timing. Albeit it painfully slow and glitchy by todays standards.

In 2009, The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (OFQUAL) released a series of reports indicating that a 6% rise of students being caught using smart phones to cheat in exams. A total of 4,400 in a single year.

To help combat and deter this new threat, we developed a small handheld unit specifically calibrated for detection of 2G and 3G phone signals only. It had only a short range of variable detection, which was perfect for the classroom and examination hall scenarios.

Fast forward 16 years…the technology, the speed and the accessibility to information has grown exponentially. So has the ability to virtually connect in real-time to the internet or accomplice almost invisibly.
